Brassica Foods Limited was set up in 2007 by Pentti and Sarah Christian of Ellerslie Farm in the Isle of Man.  Pentti was born and raised on the Isle of Man and introduced Sarah to the Island in 2006.

Pentti first became interested in alternative uses for Rapeseed oil while completing his dissertation for an MBA at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester.  When Pentti had completed his MBA, he returned back to the Island in 2005 and turned his attention to pressing rapeseeds for culinary use.  After extensive research the decision was taken to convert the old farm dairy into a pressing room.

The first commercial pressing was made in September 2009 and the product launched at the Isle of Man Food and Drink festival.  Since 2009 Ellerslie Rapeseed Oil has gone from strength to strength and allowed Brassica foods Ltd to jointly receive the prestigious Shoprite award for best small company in 2011. Ellerslie oil can now be found in a wide range of stockists across the Island, and is currently sold in 100ml, 250ml and 500ml glass bottles and 5 litre catering packs.
